Noam Chomsky proposes a propoganda model with three levels
“There are frst order predictions about how the media functino. The model also makes second-order predictions about how media performance will be discussed and evaluated. And it makes third order predictions about the reactions to studies of media performance.”
Basically:
at each level, whatever information enters the mainstream “will support the needs” of the current leadership.
At each teir wether it be the reporting of the action, the reporters of the action or the observers of the reporters of the action, disinformation by direct ‘aggressive’ or ‘benign’ means is used to muddy the waters.
They will lie, condemn those who dont lie exactly how they want they want the lie to be told and totally verbally destroy or suffocate anyone who would evaluate the lies or liars.
Lets pretend that 9/11 was a government cover-up.(which it isnt…well….not really…not the whole thing anyway) The govornment would publish and distribute an official version. (First order) then they would condemn any media that offered an alternative report(second order) then they would ignore or laugh off as conspiracy theroy anyone who suspects or studies the medias reporting on 9/11. In the mix of discrediting devices is an army of fake and ridiculous information makers easily disproved and quite laughable with their tales of aliens and the illuminati.
There is zero room for any democratic dissention in this model, history is written and hard wired exactly the way that the leadership wants it. Even if the leadership is honestly incompetent in truthfinding, mistaken or simply overzealous in its beliefs, there will be no exposition of reality simply because the established power wants and will get its way.
Propoganda is an entrenched yet hidden tool of control.
