Bombing for Buddha
Somewhere along the line people have learned that being violent for a man of peace is an acceptable behavior. Somehow Jesus inspired bloody crusades and invasions, YHWH inspired the suppression of an indigenous people and Mohamed taught that Jihad was the best way to handle Christians and Jews. The last one on the boat to nowhere is rioting, violent Buddhists. I have watched broadcast after broadcast and statement after statement of the Dalai Lama, the incarnation of the Bodhisattva itself begging for peace and tolerance and somehow, China, Tibetians and the west have interpreted confrontation, violence and shameful disorder.
Unlike the mosaic law, the Bible and Qran, it’s hard to see how “I do not wish for violence, Tibetian autonomy is desired but not independence, I am happy to see the Olympics in China” becomes, “beat up torch carriers and chop up monks, ban the Olympics, free Tibet.” It is Masopher’s firm position that Jews, Christians, Muslims, Buddhists and Chinese are in the largest part, good, decent and peaceful people, it is just asshats like Wu Heping, Zhang Qingli the Tibetan People’s Uprising Movement and the usual bunch of jokers that scarce deserve re-mention that mess it up for the rest of them.
Jesus, Mohammed and credible prophets aren’t around to defend themselves for the actions of their followers but I really doubt it makes a difference. Even if they were, somehow a damp eyed interviewer or low ranking government bleater would try to get them to condone brutality, asinine behavior and hypocritical politics.
