Masopher opened The Times. He laughed, long and loud as he read this:
A Taleban commander and two senior Afghan officials confirmed yesterday that Italian forces paid protection money to prevent attacks on their troops.
After furious denials in Rome of a Times report that the Italian authorities had paid the bribes, the Afghans gave further details of the practice. Mohammed Ishmayel, a Taleban commander, said that a deal was struck last year so that Italian forces in the Sarobi area, east of Kabul, were not attacked by local insurgents.
The payment of protection money was revealed after the death of ten French soldiers in August 2008 at the hands of large Taleban force in Sarobi. French forces had taken over the district from Italian troops, but were unaware of secret Italian payments to local commanders to stop attacks on their forces and consequently misjudged local threat levels.
Mr Ishmayel said that under the deal it was agreed that “neither side should attack one another. That is why we were informed at that time, that we should not attack the Nato troops.” The insurgents were not informed when the Italian forces left the area and assumed they had broken the deal. Afghan officials also said they were aware of the practice by Italian forces in other areas of Afghanistan.

Dont be hasty young one.
Fangorn once told Masopher who in turn told me: do not say anything, unless it is worth taking a long time to say, and to listen to. That attitude works well for ents and the like but not for demons or analysts that occasionally blog. Masopher prefers getting paid by the hour for explaining the universe and is quite unaffordable and as me, well unfortunately I don’t live for centuries, so a simple quick approximation will have to do.
I may say; the sky is blue. But the sky isn’t blue is it? The sky is sometimes red, sometimes grey, sometimes black and in parts of the Caribbean a lovely azure. In Scandinavia the night sky is like sometimes like a rainbow. It doesn’t stop me from saying the sky is blue and it doesn’t stop me from being right. There might be instances, many instances in fact where what I say can be proven wrong but for the sake of making a point, I can’t take that into consideration. If I did not ignore exceptions to the rule it would take a lifetime to say anything and Masopher wouldn’t have me to hang out with.
Exceptions to the rule do not make an argument invalid in fact every good statistician know that outliers crop up and when they do, one rejects them not because they are not important but because it would be an Entish-ly long feat to explain why there are so many different coloured skies or why there are superficially minded lesbians and why “metrosexuality” is a modern fantasy. Masopher would tell you straight away that the sky has no colour and it is all an illusion, but he says that about everything.
On the subject of Lesbians? I confess from the onset and it is no secret that I know very little about them. The ‘petite femme’ with the fun blog knows more about dyke-dom than I, no doubt and perhaps more about a great deal more. But I talk to a demon who has lived for thousands of years and chatted with guys and gals who were alive long before homosexuality went out of fashion: Masopher knows what he is saying.
