In early 2010 Russia and NATO badboy France tentatively agreed a deal where an amphibious assault ship made in France would be sold to the Russian Navy. The ship and the ability to make copies of the ship, (transfer of technology) was agreed to be sold in the background of France and Europe’s continued frustration in selling military technology to a market saturated by American products. America is literally a no fly zone for EADS planes and France is having a hell of a time getting countries like Kuwait and Brazil to accept their perfectly good contender, the Raphael, which is going up against the faithful but old American F-18 Super Hornet. Because the French Government is so intimately tied to its arms industry this would be a great case of real politik: If we can’t sell to the Americans and they keep nicking our other customers then we’ll sell to the Russians!

This represented the first time that a NATO country would sell military technology to NATOs natural enemy. Later the deal hit a few snags where France wanted to water down the product and Russia wanted a fully operational weapons platform.

France has had a very close relationship with Russia even before Communism. France and Russia had very strong pacts defending themselves against Germany which was the global threat of the 19th and 20th Century. When Communism rose and Lenin Stalin and Trotsky were fighting against Russian imperialism, France served as a natural escape for much of the Romonov aristocracy. There they stayed in exile until this day, though some have returned meekly to Russia. During Germany’s second bout of belligerence Jews fled to Russia and France from Germany and despite the bad conditions for Semites in these countries they managed to establish themselves.

France has always cast a suspicious eye on the United States, even while American boys were dying to liberate it from the Germans. In my readings I think General DeGaulle suspected that America had reverse-imperialist intentions and hoped to colonize France! Whether this will ever be verified is moot, the Anglo-American connection has always been a sore spot. During the cold war too, France was antagonistic to NATO and was known for reaching out to Moscow.  With an eye to forming a third pole in the polarizing world, Charles De Gaulle left the NATO alliance in 1966 and managed to build his own nuclear power. France has now become a first class supplier of nuclear energy and sovereign owner of its own stockpile, something that Britain failed to do. When the Berlin wall and Iron Curtain fell, France rebuilt its ties with East Germany, and with Moscow. During the Georgia war of 2008, it was Sarkozy and France that stepped in and mediated between the arrogant Georgians and surly Russians. The invasion of Iraq was again, another place where Russia, France and Germany stood off against American intentions and English acquiescence. Together, France and Germany have risen as the true drivers of the EUs success while Britain limps behind, barely out of recession and only able to supply spies and tabloid headlines to this remarkable political experiment.

The laissez-faire, liberal and leftist lean of “le France” compels it into a natural embrace with a very leftist Russia. France’s revolutions and thinking produced many hard left socialist regimes including the one that existed in Moscow.

Will France sell a fully functional Mistral to Russia? I see no reason why not.

They will beat their swords into plowshares and their spears into pruning hooks. Nation will not take up sword against nation, nor will they train for war anymore. – Isaiah

Swords into plowshares at the UN headquarters New York

In 1965 during the bowels of the non-war called the cold war. A super intercontinental ballistic missile was created by the Soviet Union to throw a nuclear bomb capable of scorching everything within 68 miles of ground zero at any point on the planet. Russia along with the United States is still capable of killing everything on this planet 100 times over. At the crescendo of the cold war, the 1980s, individuals got very high off Colombian and Bolivian cocaine and who wouldn’t want to be half baked when the first one of those things hit.

An anonymous author quotes that the best place to be when an atom bomb goes off is somewhere else. On any given day for the last 6 decades there is no where else to be but with you head between your legs kissing your ass goodbye if Russia ever decided to be “an aggressor”.

Today the soviet sword is literally being used as a plowshare, the Russian proton rocket regularly launches US, European and Asian commercial satellites into orbit: So that the world as a whole can advance. It is Masopher’s belief that capitalism the love of gain has been accepted as the default human behaviour and that aggression is a fallback when humans feel threatened.

Except demons and Snidely Whiplash, no one endeavours to be a bad guy. Hitler felt threatened by communists, communists felt threatened by capitalists and capitalist felt threatened by fascism and communism. They all felt threatened by their poor underclass populations so they put them to work building weapons of war and then put them to war using said weapons. Poor people die, politicians unite the people against common “threats” and capitalists (in whatever form) get rich.

Once fascism was put aside, the right and the left (represented by their extreems capitalism and communism) fought for supremacy and the right won, but not before absorbing some of the traits of both fascism and communism. America is more fascist and communist than ever, Russia is a prime example of capitalism mixed with KGB ethic and fascist brutality.

One tends to forget that just before German scientists began building weapons of destruction for the soviets, the Russians were the good guys as well! It was the soviets that shed the blood of a million Russians Ukrainians, Georgians and whoever else to slow and stop the fascist engines of war. Surviving the blitzkrieg and landing at Normandy alone did not win the second world. It was the sacrifices of Americans, Brits, free-Frenchmen and Soviets that prevented this world from being enslaved by twisted “German efficiency” and misguided existentialism.

Unfortunately after the war, swords were not turned into ploughshares but instead exchanged for bigger and bigger swords.

Now that the pen has become as mighty as the sword, swords are being used for plowshares and it is pens which are being used for propaganda and destructive information distribution. The legacy of German physicists has been put away for legacies of German psychologists and Russian administrators. Instead of having our bodies vaporized into ash we have our minds melted into homogenous goo. The destruction is not as evident but just as final. We are past the point of mental freedom and voices of independence are now slowly going silent.

Despite this scuffle in Georgia and realpolitik-al countermove in Poland, only we the free have lost out. Both the United States and Russia have extended their influence further into Europe. Aggression, widespread war, it is bad for business and capitalists know this. The shepherd protects his flock from wolves that never materialize but then sheers and eventually kills his sheep. Capitalist Russia sincerely believes that it is protecting the world from capitalist America and visa versa. Even though we are heading to an era of peace it will be a peace that we may not be conscious enough to enjoy.

There are no saints in the former Soviet Union. Well none since Stalin made moves to rid the masses of their opiate. Before the Iron Curtain was torn down, a couple hundred tanks would roll from one part of the USSR to another part of the USSR and the world would barely sniff at it. Now that the stage is clear of the curtain the drama is set for the perfect war.

Why is the Russian/Georgian War perfect? (because three criteria are met).

1. An easily identifiable enemy

2. Victim is pitiful but not really cared about.

3. Location is remote and can only be accessed via a television remote.

The ongoing Shri-Lanka/Tamil war does not satisfy the criteria, Neither Shri-Lanka nor the Tamils are easily identifiable.

The Israel-Lebanon war did not satisfy criteria one and was not a perfect war. Israel though easily identifiable is not an enemy.

The Afghan war also cannot qualify because even though there are easily identifiable enemies (i.e. the Taliban), the victims, namely the poor boys fighting there, are cared about by constituency members.

Iraq has long lost sight of the 3 criteria because ever since the enemy became unrecognisable i.e. no Sadaam and ever since the victims became unrecognisable and ever since Iraq became a permanent American outpost in the Middle East there are no longer any criterias fullfilled.

The talking heads, their liberal instruments and pinko misinformation specialists can be heard loud and clear by what they are and are not saying.

Firstly Georgia deserves at least some punishment. Georgia was the attacker and therefore no talking head is saying the Russians should not have attacked but only that the attacks are going on for too long and are too extreem. “Cummon Ruskies! It is a game after all, you called our bluff now lets go back to the simmering tensions as we try to peel off your former bloc allies with bribes and lies.”

Masopher reported earlier of nato’s enlargement process and its strategic implications on destroying the former USSR.

This latest move was orchestrated with Nato and Washington at very least complicit with Georgia’s outrageous and brazen actions. While offering Georgia assurances of military support and moving (perhaps notional) American Soldiers into harms way, American trained and supplied troops were instructed to take a swipe at Russian interests and personell. Anything less than the extreem reaction would signal to the world that Russia is attackable, weak and filled with technocrats rather than strong leaders. With Putin’s attention turned inwards and Medvedev untested and scoffed at, the North Atlantic tricksters thought that Georgia’s win against Russia would be the real medal of the Olympics.

But even though I clearly support my “comrades” in the Kremlin I dont support them out of misguided alliance or ideology. In this case NATO played dirty pool setting up Georgian soldiers to die hoping that Russia would not call their bluff. If the local population of Ossetia and Georgia is driven into civil war the implications for NATO soft power is that it is as ineffective and badly planned as NATO hard power.

This is not about democracy or invasions. As soon as Georgia has been spanked soundly the tanks will get off their lawn. This matter is not so much about the oil running through Georgia or even the breaking apart of the old bear, it is a long strategic game of power and domination over Europe and the world. Oil prices have reacted as expected enriching Americans, Brits, Gulf emirs and Russians. News companies get to show bawling moms and burnt cars and rag on about democracy and dictators. Things will go on as normal except Nato (American) domination of Europe gets set back a decade or two.

Enemy vilified, inconsquential people die, news readership and television watchers get their dose of reality TV without having to experience reality. PERFECT!

Really insane and desperate move for Georgian President who now looks like the impotent puppet that he always was but I think it was also a BAD MOVE for NATO who apparently dont know where chess champions come from. Check and Mate!
